Korean Haiku Thursday Workshop

Goals

• Develop the ability to refine everyday lyricism into the 17-syllable structure of Korean haiku.
• seasonal awareness (season words), image composition, restraint, and the aesthetics of blank space are used to heighten the quality of each work.
• Through presentation, appreciation, and feedback, the workshop supports sustained growth as a creative community.

Format

Part 1: We briefly discuss the core aesthetics of haiku creation: seasonality, imagery, restraint, and blank space.
Part 2: Participants read and discuss submitted works together, refining phrasing and precision of expression.
