Call for Submissions: The 2nd Korea Haiku Anthology
The Korea Haiku Federation invites submissions for its second anthology, Some-norgie.
The Federation is deeply rooted in the tradition of Korean sijo poetry and was established to promote and advance the art of haiku in Korea. Under the leadership of Dr. Soo Hyun An and Dr. SuSeong Kim, the organization strives to reimagine the aesthetic essence of haiku by embracing Korean sentiment and fostering literary exchange between Korea and Japan. Through this endeavor, the Federation seeks to evolve haiku into a literary form that transcends its Japanese origins, capturing the unique spirit and sensibilities of Korea.
We aim to create a platform where creators worldwide can share their haiku, engage in cultural exchange, and celebrate the art of haiku within a Korean literary context.
We encourage you to craft haiku freely in any language, expressing genuine emotions and universal themes. This is an opportunity for everyone to embrace the beauty of Korea haiku without hesitation.
Example: An English haiku can be composed in three lines.
In a station of the Metro
The apparition of these faces in the crowd
Petals on a wet, black bough.
— Ezra Pound (1885–1972)
For Korea haiku, the traditional structure is 5-7-5 syllables, preserving the elegance of brevity, balance, and the unique charm of the Korean language.
